Our dear friend and neighbor Stephanie had been battling some jaw pain and mouth pain for the last several months, after seeing a couple of dentists and not getting any relief of the supposed TMJ she had and the use of some mouth guards, Stephanie saw another doctor this past week. He ordered a biopsy.
On Wednesday, May 24th, the doctor shared with Stephanie and her husband Dave that Stephanie had mouth cancer.
This coming week Stephanie will be undergoing mouth surgery, where a large portion of her tongue will be removed and be reconstructed, along with the removal of lymph nodes in her neck.
We are saying our prayers that this 10 hour surgery goes smoothly, as well as to hear positive news that the cancer is only in these areas. Stephanie is an amazing wife and a devoted mother to her two darling daughters – Ellie (age 5 – a sporty princess-in-training) and Marley (age 9, going into 4th grade at Johnnycake Corners ES – who is their lovable, sporty soccer and gymnastic star).
After her surgery, Stephanie will have radiation treatments and possibly undergo chemotherapy if the doctor sees this as another necessary step. She will be out of work for several months, and she will definitely be seeing some costs that will not be covered by her health insurance.
If you see it in your heart to donate to help her during this fight to kick cancer’s butt, it would be much appreciated. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/stephanielewis
Prayers and wishes for lots of strength and courage during this journey are also appreciated.
